Depakote
Depakote is more for the treatment of manic episodes for people who suffer from bipolar disorder. It’s being offered, more and more, for long term prevention in both the manic and depressive stages of bipolar. Furthermore, in the United States, Depakote is used for the treatment of pain, migraines, and even epilepsy.
Tapering off Depakote is never a good idea without the express consent of your doctor. Even though this is a fairly widespread drug, it’s very strong and comes with many side effects. If you’re bipolar, even a better reason not to try and wean yourself off the drug yourself. I knew a girl who was bipolar very intimately for a number of years and you could always tell when she’d skipped her medication.
Besides making the user very unpleasant to be around, while off the meds, side effects from Depakote may include vomiting, appetite loss, fever, or dark urine. There has also been suggested evidence of liver damage as a side effect form taking Depakote. Very serious complications arise from time to time including blood in the urine, extreme drowsiness, and hallucinations.
Depakote is a very strong drug and may not be entirely appropriate for a bipolar fifteen year old. They need to have a strong constitution because if they start skipping out on doses, that can mean real trouble for their health.
Depakote has been associated with some weight gain which is another reason that a fifteen year old may want to cut out on a dose from time to time.
Free Depakote, like the kind offered online, should never be accepted. Nothing is free in this life; especially strong medications. If you are bipolar you should speak to your doctor before getting pregnant as there can be serious health risks to your baby if you’re still on the Depakote.
Depakote withdrawal is not pretty. I’ve seen it a number of times and before anyone takes this drug they should know exactly what they’re getting themselves in for. Speak to your doctor, come armed with questions, and get the straight talk. You don’t want to find out down the road that there was some total other thing going on that you were totally not even aware of.
Your health is in your own hands; seize it!
