Balanced Diet
A balanced diet is an important first step for anyone to take in the road to a healthy long life. There are a few things you need to do in order to check your diet, see what you’ve got, and make necessary adjustments so that you’re living a long, healthy life.
If you’re trying to decide if you are actually enjoying a balanced healthy diet, you first need to take stock of what you’re doing currently. Are you eating well balanced diets? Do your meals consist of too much processed foods or sugars? Are you eating your veggies? Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals?
People sometimes forget that diet doesn’t just affect your belly or hips; the food you eat also plays an ultimate role in brain, heart, eye, and bone health, just to name a few. Eating too much bad food not only increases your waistline but also slows your reflexes, makes you more lethargic, and also affects things like your sleep and immunity or susceptibility to things like viruses and colds. So, you can see, a balanced diet isn’t just important for fitting into your swimwear.
The definition of a balanced diet contains carbohydrates, proteins, salts, fiber, vitamins, and fats.
“Did you say FATS!?” Yes, you even need fats. Fats have vitamins and are also a source of energy. If you listen to the radio, television, or any other medium of advertisement, you may also be put off by carbohydrates; the human body is an incredible machine and it needs a lot of energy to operate. Think of all that you do in a day; carbohydrates add energy for this endeavor. Now, if you’re looking for a “carb-free” diet, that’s something of an enigma (unless you pretty much eat only fruit, and there are even carbohydrates in some fruit) You can cut out starchy carbohydrates and stick with only natural carbohydrates and you’ll be okay.
Vitamins, minerals, and fiber are also very important and are often slighted in lieu of processed foods; instant meals, and vegetables in a box. If anything, if you’re looking to eat a well balanced diet, you must have at least four servings of vegetables every day! That’s only half the RDA of fruits and vegetables but if you eat half, you’re better than a lot and you’re half way there.
Eating a balanced diet is all about having a positive attitude. A balanced diet consists of many things; you’ve got to get your vitamins, you’ve got to get your protein, you need your fats, minerals, carbohydrates, and lots and lots of water! People often forget that last one but its very important component to a balanced diet.
