Zone Diet
We all want to be operating in “the zone;” an optimal range of performance over effort divided by results; it’s a fact; the zone is where all human beings are operating in their stress free, ultimate arena and be it for work, play, or for health, the zone is the place to be.
Barry Sears knows this; that’s why he’s come up with his hypothesis for dieting called the Zone diet. While not, per say, a “weight loss” diet, Mr. Sears has tapped into our fears from the big D word and has replaced it with a way of thinking about eating which has changed people’s attitudes, changed people’s habits and helped them lose weight all in one fell swoop.
Zone Diet recipes target hormonal balance. When insulin levels are neither too high nor too low and other factors are in harmony, then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released similar to the effect of aspirin. It is Sears’s hypothesis that the 30:40 ratio of protein to carbohydrates allows this effect; hence you’re in “the Zone.” Benefits of this ration include anti-inflammation as well as being heart friendly.
Fitness is so important. We all live our lives trying to stay in shape, eat right, and live a long and healthy life. Numerous obstacles stand in our way of reaching these idyllic goals; time, money, mostly time; but there is no reason not to get on the web and try to find out some answers. One benefit for the Zone Diet is that it’s a very popular diet with many reviews available for you to read and make assumptions about before you even need to read the text.
Zone diet meals are readily available from your supermarket and you can prepare the meals yourself, as you should. Look for the Zone Diet recipes; it’s a good idea to buy the book and read it first to decide if the Zone Diet might be something that you’d like to participate in. The Zone Diet has been wildly successful in the past few years but you should read the text and maybe even consult with someone on your personal disposition towards Zone. The American Heart Association has not put their seal of approval on the Zone Diet because of the high amount of protein, lacking of essential nutrients, in addition to the absence of information on the long-term effects of the Zone Diet.
